Total miles for 2008

I rode my final ride for 2008 on Wednesday, used a PodRunner podcast called “Progressive”, 140 bpm (70 rpm). I find that the podcasts in the 140-160 range to be the most comfortable to ride with (matches my “normal” cadence when outside).

I ride in my garage during the winter and even with insulated walls, it’s still bone chilling. Not much of a motivator looking forward to a ride on an ice box!

Total miles as of 31 Dec 2008: 3763.1

Total miles since May 2002: 29577

Freezer…

During the winter months here in Oregon, the weather outside is usually too cold to do any meaningful riding outside and I revert to riding the trainer in the garage. The past two weeke we’ve had snow outside bringing the temperature in the garage to “unbearable”. A “space” heater sometimes works for such an occasion, however, I would rather not use it if I can get away with it.
As stated many times, time away from riding is actually a good thing - all things in moderation.

Progressive

Yesterday I rode to a new PodRunner podcast called “Progressive” 140 bpm (70 rpm).

During the winter months, I ride in the garage - what I call “The Tour de Garage”. On any given week I’ll average 20 miles per ride (an hour is all I can stand going nowhere fast), and put in 20-120 miles per week - riding the lowly trainer.

I aslo have psoriasis, and during the winter months it flares up, this year it seems to be really bad. Past years coverage is usually under 5% (knees, eblow, spot on the scalp), now I have coverage over 10% (face, arms, scalp, back, chest, elbows, knees, legs, stomach). Talk about being uncomfortable!

I may just buy a therapy light! During the summer months when I spend as much time outside as possible, my psoriasis goes into “remission”, places that get sun exposure clears up and I’m not so irritable!

I’ve ordered more parts - this time a carbon trike seat - it should arrive next week. Photos to come.

Work it all Out…

Yesterday I rode for an hour to a PodRunner podcast called “Work It All Out” 161 BPM (80 rpm).

I came down with a cold or something like that Thurdays night and I’m not feeling to wonderful, however, riding does allow me to stretch out my legs.

I have about 400 miles before I reach 4000 miles ridden for the year. If I continue at my pace (about 100 miles a week), I shoul dbe able to reach it.

I’ve also ordered 2 sets of parts - a pair of disc hubs and a set of mirrored disc brakes. Once they are on hand, then I’ll order rims.

Since I’m buying parts a month at time, my new trike build will be slow (I should be done before May)

Miles Ridden as of Nov 27 2008

Today I have ridden 3628.6 miles since January, about 1800 miles less than last year. When I look at my logs, even though I have ridden less miles, my average speed higher, 18.8 mph this year versus 17.2 mph for last year.

Total miles ridden with my Micro: 29442 - Will I reach 30000 miles this year?
