“Crazytrike.com” as a concept has been around since December 2005 on a site called “TagWorld.com”. I used the site to post my progress on training for the 2006 Seattle to Portland and continued blogging with them until they changed formats in May 2008. I and many others lost blog settings during TagWorld’s tansition, not fun loosing 2 years worth of work! Looking at other solutions available to me, I felt it best that I be able to control my content – have you read some of the user agreements out there?
In May 2008 I registered the domain “crazytrike.com”, and began looking at a self-hosted blogware solution that would allow me to import my old TagWorld site.
Looking around at the different platforms, I choose WordPress for its ability to be configured (I’ll have to admit TagWorld had some great tools that made setting up my blog easy and I compared everything else to that ease of use).
I was able to transfer my blog posts over from Tagworld, and thankfully I had copies of my images to import.
I’ve now been blogging with WordPress since that time. Looking at my site, I have entries spanning over four years!
WordPress is now at version 3.0, with features built in that used to be found only as plugins. One of these features is called “featured image”, a feature I’ve been looking for since I’ve started my blog. I’m now going through my old posts and attaching the corresponding images, with four years of posts to go through, this may take a while, thankfully, not all of them have images. When it’s all said and done, my Archive pages should look a bit better.
