STP 2009 is now behind me, in more ways than one!
Early on in the ride I rolled the Micro! Talk about a pride buster… I was even considering calling it quits at the first rest stop at mile 25!
At around mile 10, the descents in Seattle can be hazardous and in past years have had a few accidents. Unfortunately for me, this year I was one of those “unlucky few” who biff it early on.
My right butt cheek is covered in road rash, and my pride is a bit bruised – nothing I can’t recover from. Needless to say, this week I’m taking a break from riding.
All in all, the ride was still a good one, came in 13 hours from my start at 4:45 at 5:45!, I’ll take that any day of the week!
The sad part is that my speed censor lost alignment, so for the first hour I didn’t get any speed readings, riding “blind” so to say. After a quick stop, I was able to figure out the problem and on my way!
I took a few more brakes this year (duh! comes to mind). Looks like I might retire the Micro, now that I have the “Q” and the time to adjust for the proper fit… the “little things” that make for a comfortable ride.
Going over what data I did capture, looks like I got all but 7 miles!
Our trip to Seattle included a day in the city, spending some time at the “Seattle Center”, surprised my wife and daughter by riding a roller coaster! That will probably be the last roller coaster I ride…
Way to hang in there, Doug. Proud of you!
