I took the Micro out tonight for a 40 mile ride, the course being familiar is a fast one, some hills, and a good stretch of flats!
My average for the ride was 19 mph! Definately an improvement since the begining of the year.
Mixing it up between the two trikes – the Micro and the “Q” – is an eye opening experience, I really like the Micro!
Looks like the Micro is still my ride of choice… (1.5 lbs does make a difference!)
So, for the “Q”, I’ll have to lower the seat angle to match the Micro, thinking of swapping out the 700c and put on a 26″ wheel (this will make the gear inches of the “Q” the same as the Micro as well as lower the weight).
Another thing I’m noticing is that the fat tires on the Micro roll faster than the hard skinny tires on the “Q”. With a 26″ wheel, I’ll have room to use Schwalbe’s Kojacks – a fat and fast tire. It may have to do with the fact that hard tires bounce more than fat tires at a lower PSI. On the Micro I’m using Schwalbe’s Marathon Racers at 85 PSI, on the “Q” I have Schwalbe’s Duranos at 110 PSI. The higher PSI is a harsher ride, but you get used to it.

That’s an interesting point. Schwalbe claims the same (wide tires roll better than narrow ones). But narrow tires can be inflated to higher pressures. All in all, I thought that narrow tires at high max pressures rolled better than wide tires at their lower max pressure (professional cyclists use narrow tires, after all).
).
It seems that I was wrong (so were you when you chose the Durano
The Schwalbe Kojak exists in folding or wired versions. A serious 26″ competitor is Michelin XCR Road. Among those three, which one will you choose ?
I am building a 26″ QNT (lower spec’ed than yours) and am very interested in your opinion.
Have a nice day !

I enjoy the Schwalbe line of tires, choosing the kevlar beaded Durano for “lightness” and durability. With a 700c (etrto 622) wheel, the largest tire I can use is 28mm.
I’m thinking about building up a 26″ wheel (etrto 559) so I can use a larger diameter tire like the Kojak. Schwalbe make a kevlar beaded Kojak (also a folder) I think I’ll start using. This will also drop the rear by over an inch.
Thank you for your answer !
Please note that my comment above is written in white color over a white background. I suggest a better choice for the future.

Thanks for the insight on the “Comments”. I’ve been playing with a new theme and getting all the areas correct can be a challenge.
