Swapped out the battery on Saturday and rode with it on Monday, went to download my data and found that it wasn’t recorded… a “mem full” on the display and no data to be had. Hmmm.
Called a Polar repair shop where I had sent my watch before and they gave me the instructions to hard reset the watch (simple really, hold the reset switch for 3 seconds, then hold the lower left (stop) and the upper right buttons at the same time until it resets.
It’s back to normal now! Off to go ride now!

I have the same issue but the reset as you described is not working. Do I press the rest button for 3 seconds while holding the bottom left and upper right buttons, or hold reset for 3 seconds; release and then press the 2 outer buttons? or hold all 3 for 3 seconds?
Thanks for any insight and additional details you can provide – this is driving me crazy to say the least!
On the S720i, after replacing the battery, you will get a “mem full” error. To correct this, hold the “reset” button (the recessed button between the upper and lower right buttons) for 3 seconds, then hold the the lower left and the upper right buttons – at the same time – if I remember correctly, the display will revert back to default settings. At this point you can let go and you will have to reenter all of your data.
