Wet…

Hmmm… Another rainy day in Oregon, worked late and decided to not ride. I’ll ride tomorrow.

Wrong again!

Well the weatherman was wrong again today! Instead of rain all day, it cleared and became sunny. I was able to put in fairly quick ride - 28 miles at 19.5 average! With the Wasco on the 10th, it looks like I’ll do just fine.

Weather…

The weather here in Oregon has been a bit wetter than normal - so much for global warming - Ha!

My riding has been very sporadic as of late due to the cold nature of my area - almost half as many miles ridden this year as compared to last year - such is life.

It seems people that don’t beleive in something will beleive in anything. I beleive in God, that Jesus Christ is my savior and that the people of this planet are stewards over it. We will be held to account for how we treat our environment. That said, I don’t beleive that government has the solutions to our problems - they make our problems worse!

A perfect example of this is the mandated fuel formulas and ethenol production (alternative fuels). To take food crops and divert them to fuel production is absolutely STUPID! Everyone suffers! Talk about thinking globally: food production diverted to fuel production causes food riots in poorer countries and my purchasing power in decreased. This isn’t the fault of the oil companies, the problem rests at the feet of governmental mandates and restrictions (when was the last oil refinery built in the US? When will we start drilling for our own oil again?)

There are other stupid government interventions: health care, minimum wage, “social security”, medicare, lack of border security, education. Essentially anything that the individual should be doing for themselves and the government gets involved with, gets messed up!

Government should only be doing those things that the individual is unable: protect our country from outside forces, interstate commerce to name a few. Some may say we spend to much on the military, but with out the military and those willing to serve (I served 10 years), we would not be able to enjoy the fredoms we have today.

Outside…

Saturday was a great day to ride outside! I took one of my favorite routes, riding 41 miles taking just over 2 hours to finish. I may change my front tires back to Schwalbe Stelvios versus the Marathon Racers I am currently using. The Stelvios are a higher pressure, lower rolling resistance tire - helps in going “faster”

Playing

I’ve been working on my server these past few days… Down, Up, Down, and Up again… the beauty of running my own server or the hazards, what ever the case may be.

Need to look at a viable backup solution, I may have found at least a solution for a large NAS setup - called Openfiler. Looks to be a good way to re-use old hardware. Add new hard drives, a decent controller, setup a hardware raid 5 configuration and I have huge array on my network (huge being 3 terabytes).

As drives get bigger is capacity and cheaper in price, having a large NAS isn’t so crazy.

With 5 weeks left before the WASCO, I really should get back to riding…

’til next time…
