‘Fat’ tires

I recently received my new tires for the Micro - Schwalbe Marathon Racers.

These tires are significantly fatter than the Schwalbe Stelvios I have used (40mm versus 28mm). I had to raise my seat about an inch to give clearance for the new tire!

I’ve ridden with the new tire only on my trainer and the tire does seem to ride quite well - although - it also has more tread than the Stelvio, so there is the noise caused the Marathon’s tread pattern. Call me “buzz saw”!

Once I ride outside I’ll really get a taste to the new tires!

Side by side…

It is funny, keeping a blog with a photo history, I can see what my trike looked like before its recent manifestation…

First Ride…

Today I took my “new” trike out for a 40 mile ride - sweet!

During this inaugural ride, there where a few adjustments that needed to be done - mainly the rear derailleur cable tension. Preiodically through the ride I had to stop to adjust the tension, looks like I have it set “perfectly” now.

Riding with new cables on a trainer is far different than riding on the road! What seems “perfect” on the trainer turns out to be off on the road. Good thing that once the cable tension is set for “road use” it also works fine on the trainer!

Winter is soon here and my riding time outside will be very limited (due to it being cold and wet - typical Oregon weather for this time of year.

Taking October “off” from riding seems to have been a good thing - I was feeling “burned out” from riding - not wanting to ride, but riding anyway because I knew I had to. Now that I’ve had some time away from the trike, and the trike is back together (what a thing of beauty) riding is a pleasure again!
