Changes

Since owning my 2002 Trice Micro I have made quite a few changes to it.

The main change was going from its then stock 349 rims with Bromtom tires and hub brakes to now stock 355 rims with Schwalbe Stelvios and disk brakes.

Basically the overall wheel diameter is the same (about 16.5 inches), however, the Stelvios are a skinnier tire running at a higher psi (120psi to be exact).

I’ve been running with disk brakes for about 3 years, and am happy I made the change.

In May 2005 I installed a Windwrap XT fairing on the Micro and rode with it during the 2005 STP. My overall impression is that it keeps my feet warm, but doesn’t give me much in a performance boost. Its great for winter riding!

The coming year…

2006 has been a great one, with almost 4000 miles ridden for the year, a fair showing at the Wasco Wild West 75 and a pretty exciting Seattle to Portland.

As I have mentioned, for 2007, an additional goal is to get down to my “competition” weight of 185lbs (I was at 195lbs in the begining of 2006 reaching 215 by October.) So far I have “dropped” 11 pounds, well on my way to meeting my goal weight by May 2007!

I have also made a couple of changes to the trike, mainly, I replaced the idlers with Terracycle Idlers and have removed all but 4 inches of chain tube (the short tube keeps the chain from bouncing around.)

I also had to replace the resistance band on my trainer - the folks at SportCrafters replaced it with out problems! And this on a 4 year old model no less…

My training program for 2007 is getting into high gear - an hour, 6 days a week (averaging 17-20 miles per session) and as soon as the weather warms up, I’ll be adding longer rides outside and catching up on missed episodes of my favorite shows while I ride inside.

December…

This “loosing weight” thing can be a real pain in the neck - I love to eat - using Diet Power really puts it “in your face” about the impact of what you do or don’t eat, makes it really easy to decide if that dozen chocolate Krispy Creams is really worth all the riding I’ll have to do to balance out the calories or what impact a Quizno’s large double pastrami will do for the day…

I really like the program. As the weeks progress, I should start seeing some useful trends as I get closer to my goal.
