Monthly Archive for March, 2006

Last Year…

Last year in March I had ridden 182 miles, so far I’ve only ridden 95, with four days left, I think I can manage 100 miles (thats 25 miles for the next four nights - quite doable). When I look at my miles for the year however, I have already ridden 500 miles more than last year. With the days getting longer and warmer, this year looks to be off to a great start!

Batteries…

Dealing with wireless sensors can be a pain in the neck… I swapped out all my batteries in the wireless speed and cadence sensors for my Polar S720i and all is happy again.

Will be riding long and harder in the coming weeks getting prepared for the Wasco Wild West and ultimately for this year’s Seattle to Portland.

Reviewing my logs for the past month I have noticed that I’m not riding as hard as I once had, this could be a good thing as I not as tired and recovery times are shortened.

Riding without speed…

Not to say that I didn’t ride fast last night, I just rode without my speed sensor.

I rode for about 30 minutes and stayed in my training zone, felt really good. Hopefully the replacement sensore will be here today, knowing how fast I’m going helps in the training process. A little less than 60 days for the Wasco Wild West, will focus on hill work in the coming weeks.

Miles Ridden…

Seems that I am unable to edit my header at the moment… and my speed sensor is on the fritz… TECHNOLOGY!

Miles for 2006: 737.5

Total Miles Ridden: 16,760

Polar Wireless Sensors

During my most recent rides, I have been noticing that my speeds being very erratic - going from a pace of 18mph to 0mph (and stopping my timer) back up to 12mph, basically all over the place…

Last night I changed the battery in hopes of fixing the problem, unfortunately, I dropped the speed sensor.

After removing the battery cover, and inspecting the transmitter, the ferrous core had broken, rendering the sensor usless.

So today my riding is put off for a couple of hours so I can search for a local source to replace the sensor. If I’m unsuccessful, I’ll put in a ride without monitoring speed and cadence anyway…
